Vodafone introduces combined telephony and internet packages for fixed network substitution

14 March 2007

Hanover, 14 March 2007. Vodafone's At Home product family offers plenty of arguments in favour of getting rid of traditional landline phones and saving on the monthly line rental charges. The telecommunication service provider's portfolio includes inexpensive communication solutions for telephony and internet via DSL that beat traditional landline services any day. And Vodafone is going one step further by merging its At Home worlds of mobile telephony and internet.

At Home's popularity confirms its success. Around one-and-a-half years ago, in summer 2005, Vodafone launched its offensive against the German landline market that marked the beginning of the At Home product family's success story. Last autumn, the innovative telecommunications service provider extended its range of products and services to include fast DSL internet access. Today, the At Home family already has around 2 million customers who use Vodafone's clever fixed network substitution products to eliminate the need for their classic landline phones.

Mobile telephony, landline telephony and internet from one single provider. The low-cost and reliable all-inclusive packages for mobile telephony, landline telephony and fast surfing with DSL are perfect for singles, couples and families. The monthly package prices start at EUR 34.95 (for the first six months, then EUR 49.95 a month). "Vodafone At Home DSL Flat" customers have a choice of three different flatrates for unlimited Internet surfing via DSL, all calls to the German landline network (not including calls to special-purpose numbers) and all calls to the Vodafone mobile phones of friends, family members and colleagues from their Home Zone. The Home Zone extends up to a radius of 2 km around the home. The low-rate flatrate also applies to calls made from the baker's down the road or from the local playground. This special offer comes with a fixed network number and local prefix so that you can receive incoming calls at low fixed network rates when you're at home. If you like, you can also keep the number you got from your previous provider. Anybody who only wants DSL internet can book the "Vodafone DSL Pur" package and surf to their heart's content for EUR 19.95 a month (for the first six months, then EUR 34.95 a month). Vodafone's fixed network substitution products deliver unlimited communication fun and effective cost control. Vodafone At Home DSL is provided in a joint venture with Arcor.

And Vodafone DSL is more than just high-speed surfing. Vodafone's DSL customers can start surfing straight away because they can use their mobile phone as a modem to go online even before the DSL connection is activated. Naturally, the standard free e-mail services are also available with Vodafone DSL.

The Vodafone DSL world isn't just about high-speed surfing and e-mails. Vodafone's convergent communication solutions are causing the mobile telephony and internet worlds to merge. Users can access personal content  when they are out and about with their mobile phone or sitting at the PC at home. Vodafone only recently launched the "Vodafone live! portal for the internet". Many of the services that customers appreciate on their mobile online portal can now be used via Vodafone DSL. This means the Vodafone live! services aren't just available to them on their mobile phones, but also on their home PC. Users can also access personal Vodafone live! content stored on their home PC from any internet PC. Innovative services such as "Vodafone Mein PC" provide multimedia at any location by enabling communication between the mobile phone or another PC and the home PC. If a user's home PC is switched on and online, he can listen to songs stored on the home PC on any other PC via streaming on the mobile phone or display photos from a personal photo album on his mobile phone display.
