Vodafone delivers more bang for your buck this Christmas

Vodafone transforms mobile broadband market offering 5GB for $39 per month

Vodafone Australia today slashed the price of mobile broadband, launching a 5GB plan for $39
per month.

Vodafone’s dramatic move is designed to put mobile broadband on every customer’s Christmas wish list. Comparable to the price and speed of fixed line broadband, with the added convenience of fast,
easy installation and mobile access, Vodafone’s new 5GB data offer comes complete with either a free Vodafone Mobile Connect USB modem or the recently launched E800 Expresscard, both valued at RRP $299.00. The offer is available to new or existing customers, exclusively on a 24-month contract.

Tim Cowan, Data Marketing Manager at Vodafone Australia, said: “Vodafone has invested wisely to build a mobile broadband network that provides coverage where it really counts. Vodafone is a challenger brand and we’re first again with the best deal for customers by a country mile!”

“This plan makes mobile broadband more affordable for many Australian customers and ends the traditional view that mobile broadband is the exclusive domain of business customers,” added Cowan.

“With a huge 5GB for only $39 – and, of course, no need for line rental – Vodafone’s new pricing hits the sweet spot for personal customers and will make it an easy choice for more business customers to capitalise on the benefits of mobility as they return to work in the New Year.”

Vodafone’s 3G Broadband network utilises High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) technology, which currently operates on the 3.6Mbps standard. Customers in the greater metropolitan areas of Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Central Coast, Adelaide and Perth, plus all major airports across the country can enjoy download speeds of between 600kbps to 1.5Mbps2 on Vodafone’s 3G Broadband network.

Current Vodafone 3G Broadband customers who’ve subscribed to the 100MB and 300MB 12-month and 24-month contracts can easily migrate to the new 5GB plan, retaining their contract term and with no penalty.

Some existing customers on higher data plans may need to pay a fee to move to the new plan. This fee is dependent on the residual time remaining on their original contract.

Cowan concluded: “Vodafone is determined to finish the year with a bang, and 5GB for $39 not only blows the competition out of the water this Christmas, but ensures Vodafone customers head into the New Year with the best value available in market.”

Both the Vodafone Mobile Connect USB modem and the E800 Expresscard are capable of operating on the 7.2Mbps network standard. When Vodafone upgrades its 3G Broadband network to the 7.2Mbps standard, customers will not need to purchase a new device to take advantage of the faster data speeds.

Vodafone customers also enjoy the benefit of Vodafone’s tried and tested optimisation software that compresses around 30 per cent of data throughput. Optimisation helps to reduce costs through increased efficency and delivers data faster to customers.
