At the 2005 Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) Awards Ceremony in London on Wednesday of this week, Vodafone was awarded the mobile entertainment industry's most prestigious awards in two categories, Best Contribution to Mobile Music for Full Track Music Downloads and the Mobile Innovation Award for 24: Conspiracy Mobisodes TM, both available on Vodafone live! with 3G service.
Best Contribution to Mobile Music
Music is one of the most popular services on Vodafone live! with 3G. Customers can now download full music tracks to their handset and listen to near CD quality music, rather than small bursts of music through realtones or ring tones. Vodafone's Full Track Music Download catalogue was recently extended to hundreds of thousands of tracks from the world's leading artists.
Mobile Innovation Award
Vodafone, working in conjunction with Twentieth Century Fox, was the first mobile operator to offer made-for-mobile videos. With the introduction of 24: Conspiracy Mobisodes TM, Vodafone customers were treated to twenty-four, 60-second mobile video episodes of a parallel plot of the hit TV series, '24'. Each mobile episode was made available for customers to download from Vodafone live! with 3G, so customers could experience the drama of their favourite TV series at their leisure. "Mobile entertainment on Vodafone live! is key to its success and we are delighted that our entertainment services have been recognised by the Mobile Entertainment Forum", said Graeme Ferguson, Director of Global Content Development at Vodafone Group. "The mobile entertainment industry is one of the fastest growing sectors in the entertainment world today and in order to drive take-up, we have to continue to push the boundaries and provide innovative, exciting content that customers want."
Patrick Parodi, Chairman of the MEF said "The 2005 MEF Awards salute the creativity, dynamism and growth of the industry. Given the tremendous quality of the entrants this year, it is a significant achievement for Vodafone to have been awarded both the Music and Innovation awards."
