Team sponsor Vodafone is providing cricket fans with the opportunity to gain direct access to the England Cricket Team. Via the Team England BlackBerry® initiative fans will be able to e-mail their support and comments to the players during the current West Indies Test Series.
The address for cricket fans is: teamengland@vodafone.eu.blackberry.com
Throughout the four match Test Series the most interesting questions will be posted on ecb.co.uk. In addition two players will answer a sample of the questions at a press conference prior to the 3rd npower Test Match at Old Trafford. This will be the first time the England Cricket Team has taken questions openly from the public.
Vodafone is providing each member of the England Team with a BlackBerry® 7230TM wireless handheld so they can now keep in touch with their business and personal lives via e-mail and the internet whilst on the move. The handset can also make calls and act as a high tech personal organiser and with Vodafone UK's 53 international GPRS roaming agreements around the world it will allow the cricketers to stay in touch both in the UK and when abroad on tour.
Commenting on the Team England BlackBerry® initiative, captain Michael Vaughan said: "It's not always possible to get on line using my laptop or find a business centre at the hotel and BlackBerry® allows me to respond quickly and easily to emails whilst I am on the move.
"The Team England BlackBerry® initiative will also give cricket fans the chance to email us directly during the Test Series against the West Indies. We get fantastic support both home and away and this initiative will allow them to get closer to the England Team."
Maria Bellanca, Head of Vodafone Group Sports Sponsorship PR, says: "As sponsor of Team England we are committed to providing the players with the latest in communication equipment and Research In Motion's BlackBerry® solution is a great way of ensuring all aspects of their business and personal lives are catered for. They are more than just professional cricketers and require a range of products and services to help them operate wherever they are playing.
"The Team England BlackBerry® press conference will allow cricket fans across the country to communicate with their cricket heroes. It also demonstrates how easy it is to send and receive emails, even in the middle of a cricket ground."
