Vodafone's sponsorship of the Vodafone Cup forms part of the new GBP36 million four year partnership with Manchester United that will be begin on 1 June 2004. The Vodafone Cup Tournament will extend both the reach of the Vodafone brand, as well as offering a unique and rich opportunity for football fans throughout the world to witness some of the great football players in a 2 day competition. It will also offer Vodafone's operating companies the rare chance to leverage their association with some of the world's best football teams, and engage in an exciting new tournament.

Vodafone is Manchester United's principal sponsor and business partner, delivering club content to football fans around the world through wireless technologies, giving people better access to Manchester United and football.

Vodafone's alliance with Manchester United is made up of two main elements:

Sponsorship - Vodafone has been title sponsor of Manchester United since 2000. The new alliance sees Vodafone remain as the club's principal sponsor with name and logo on the club's playing kit, and is the sole partner of the new Vodafone Cup tournament.

Business Development - Vodafone and Manchester United's business venture will roll out a wide range of Manchester United content, including results, news, still and video images, ringtones and games, to wireless devices around the world.
