Vodafone Group Plc ("Vodafone") announces that on 4 December 2003 it purchased 17,751,490 shares in Vodafone-Panafon Hellenic Telecommunications Company S.A. ("Panafon"). These market purchases were effected at a price per Panafon share of EUR 6.18 or below, for an aggregate consideration of approximately EUR 110 million. As a result, Vodafone's direct and indirect shareholding in Panafon will increase from approximately 77.503 per cent. to approximately 80.769 per cent.

Vodafone expects to continue to make market purchases at a price per Panafon share of EUR 6.18 or below.
