Betavine is the open community for mobile solutions.

Go to www.betavine.net and you’ll find a great public web site where developers, testers and anyone interested in wireless and internet communications can experiment or play with new technology.

Run by our Research and Development team, we’re the first mobile telecommunications company to create a space that’s open to everyone to share their ideas on how to develop an even better mobile experience for customers and to try out other people’s applications. It was first launched in January 2007 and has evolved extensively since then. The latest addition is the Betavine Social Exchange which brings together community needs and mobile technology. One of our great successes is the linux driver for the Vodafone Mobile Connect (VMC) card. We have seen over 750,000 downloads since launching our open source software.

We’re leading the way in harnessing the power of Web 2.0 – the second generation of internet-based services, such as social networking sites, that emphasises collaboration and sharing of information among users.

What is Betavine?

Betavine is a testing ground for the latest concepts and technologies in mobile and internet applications. It allows people to test their ideas in real-world conditions, with others who are knowledgeable and interested in developing mobile applications for the future.

Everything on the site is pre-competitive (it’s a forum for open technical discussions) and non-commercial: no money changes hands and the applications on the site are still at an early stage of development. It has the potential to benefit the whole mobile telecoms industry.
