The UN Foundation-Vodafone Group Foundation alliance strives to be the leading public-private partnership using strategic technology programmes to strengthen the UN’s humanitarian efforts worldwide.
Created in October 2005, with a £10 million commitment from The VGF matched by £5 million from the UN Foundation, the Partnership has three core commitments:
- to develop rapid response telecoms teams to aid disaster relief;
- to develop health data systems that improve access to health data thereby helping to combat disease; and
- to promote research and innovative initiatives using technology as an agent and tool for international development.
"Our partnership with The Vodafone Group Foundation is the United Nations Foundation's largest and most innovative. It has produced real results in emergency response communications and health data systems, and we look forward to even more success in making a difference around the world together."
Ted Turner, Chairman of the Board, UN Foundation
