Welcome to the Responsibility Store

From Guy Laurence, CEO, Vodafone UK

We started a revolution over 25 years ago by building the first mobile network in the UK. It’s hard to believe now – when there are around 81 million connections and more mobiles than people – that back in the 80s and 90s mobile telecoms was regarded as a luxury.

Today, you’re more likely to rely on your mobile phone than a landline for most of your calls. In fact, around 15 per cent of homes don’t bother with a landline at all.

Protecting our customers

New smartphones and internet services can benefit our customers and society, but they also create new challenges and responsibilities. We work hard to make sure all our customers have the information and tools they need to use mobile services safely and securely.

Old phones help WWF

We've announced a new recycling partner.

Recycling unwanted phones and accessories has always been a key part of our environmental strategy. Over the last five years, we've reused or recycled over a million phones – almost 300 tonnes of useful nickel, cadmium, metals and plastic.

We aim to keep them out of landfill where previously harmless elements and substances can degrade and cause damage to wildlife and the environment. With our new partnership with WWF-UK, the environment benefits twice. For each old phone we get back, we'll give £9 to WWF to help them in their conservation efforts. We'll take back any phone from any network. Customers can drop them off in a Vodafone retail store or post them free of charge to Freepost Vodafone Recycling.

Making a difference

Across the UK, charities are working to improve the lives of individuals, and to benefit communities and the environment. We use our technology and donate time and money to support their work as well as helping our customers and employees get involved in the causes they care about.

Going greener

Looking after the environment makes sense to our customers, and it makes sense to us. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce the carbon footprint of our network, our stores and our offices and contacts centres. And we can help our customers go greener too.
