Unleash the power of Vodafone to transform
societies and enable sustainable living for all
Our approach and current focus areas

Mobile technology can change the way people live. We will innovate to improve access to finance, education and healthcare; improve efficiency in agriculture and working as well as delivering low carbon solutions.
These are exciting times for Vodafone. We have a host of new products and services that are not only good for business, but can make a huge difference to society.
Our mobile technology can help farmers in India use mobile phones to sell their crops at a better price, and we can allow healthcare workers in remote parts of Africa to make sure they don’t run out of essential medicines. We can help migrant workers send money home to their families, and we can enable patients with chronic diseases to monitor and manage their conditions at home. Our networks themselves can make a big difference by bringing communications to remote communities, with our low-cost mobile phones often bringing access to the internet for the first time.
We can also help the world tackle climate change – one of the greatest global challenges - through smart technology that controls energy management in homes, schools and offices; through video conferencing that allows businesses to cut their carbon footprint by reducing the need for travel, and via tracking devices that can make delivery routes more efficient - saving fuel, costs and emissions. Much of this is being achieved through technology that enables machines to communicate with each other directly.
Our research has shown there are, and will be, many more ways to address social and environmental issues on a global scale through mobile technology. So we have an opportunity to expand our business to new customers and markets, as well as a chance to transform societies.
But we can’t do any of this unless people trust us to bring new technology into their lives. To gain and maintain this trust, we must behave ethically and responsibly wherever we do business. This means, for example, protecting our customers’ privacy and personal data, making sure our products come from suppliers who treat their workers fairly, and cutting our own carbon footprint at the same time as helping others to do the same.
By acting with honesty and integrity, we know we will achieve more for our business, for our customers and for society.
We are making this sustainability mission a core part of our business strategy. It comes from the very top of Vodafone and, we believe, will energise and enthuse our employees around the world, unleashing more of their ideas and innovation. To be sure this happens, we need to make even greater efforts to ensure that support for sustainability runs throughout our business. The pages on this website show how we are doing this.
