World Food Programme

In 2008 the Vodafone Foundation and the United Nations Foundation became the World Food Programme’s “Global Partners for Emergency Communications”.  The partnership focussed resources and strategy to support the critical role of communications in emergency response to:

  • optimise and standardised ICT solutions in emergencies
  • expand the pool of trained ICT experts
  • establish a network of stand-by partners ready for deployment and
  • to enable the immediate dispatch of ITC emergency responders.

In April 2011, the Vodafone Foundation and WFP agreed a 3 year partnership.  Under this partnership the Vodafone Foundation and WFP will organise and deliver intensive ICT Emergency Management Training programmes for the world's leading humanitarian organisations, to better prepare emergency response workers for deployment.
