Vodafone has created a new cloud based marketplace offering small and medium sized enterprises (SME) sector specific business applications. The first country to go live with the service called Vodafone Digital Marketplace is Italy where the company will unveil a suite of applications aimed at different sectors from hospitality to construction.

SME customers will be able to directly download and manage these apps online through the Vodafone marketplace helping to improve customer experience. After Italy, Vodafone is planning to launch the Digital Marketplace in Germany, the UK and South Africa.
The Vodafone Marketplace is based on a platform from AppDirect, the leader in cloud service commerce . AppDirect will work with Vodafone to manage the underlying platform as it is rolled out across the key Vodafone geographies. AppDirect already has a catalogue of hundreds of independent software vendors applications which can easily be activated on a per country basis according to local conditions and demands.
