Vodafone has been recognised once again, as a leading service provider to enterprises. We have been awarded Managed Service Provider (MSP) Partner of the year with Ciena. This award is granted for outstanding innovation in enterprise connectivity services, from combined expertise and technical capability. Previous winners of this accolade include BT Openreach, Telindus, and EU Networks
The award was achieved in our Global Ethernet Acceleration programme where we launched Dedicated and Switched Ethernet services to Vodafone Global Enterprise and Vodafone UK in just 18 months.
In an effort to meet the rigorous parameters of on-demand cloud computing with agility and efficiency, Vodafone has added a set of Dedicated and Switched Ethernet services to our global hybrid WAN portfolio. The new group of high-capacity Ethernet Services and capabilities are designed to complement the carrier’s fixed connectivity portfolio of Internet, SIP trunking, IP-VPN and cloud connectivity solutions. The result is that businesses of all sizes can enjoy a flexible network and the benefits of on-demand cloud computing and storage.
The hybrid WAN architecture offers simplified computing with high levels of elasticity, control and predictability, enabling an efficient, integrated network. Vodafone’s new portfolio provides a range of high-speed connections designed to scale up for multi-site and multi-national enterprises. The network architecture supports high-bandwidth applications like large file transfer for healthcare organizations, or live video traffic for stadiums and entertainment venues.
The new Ethernet services take advantage of Vodafone’s global network, which includes a fixed network footprint in 72 countries. The network supports handling multiple types of traffic simultaneously, thanks to Ciena’s optical layer, enabling customers to have more control over the performance and delivery of their mission-critical data and applications.
Vodafone has partnered with Ciena for these solutions, taking advantage of its converged packet-optical platforms as well as the Ciena OPn network architecture. By deploying Ciena as the foundation for its WAN services, Vodafone is implementing NFV and SDN to enable advanced on-demand features like self-service provisioning and virtualized WAN services.
We are very proud of this award and see it as validation of our Ethernet Services capability with a leading partner in Ciena.
The relationship with Ciena is truly a joint partnership, allowing the two businesses to collaborate and combine expertise and technologies into customer innovative solutions. We therefore address the virtualisation and connectivity opportunities arising from the growth of cloud infrastructure, data centres and intelligent networks within enterprises on their digital transformation journey.
